Who runs this desk

The Megawatt Ledger is maintained by a small crew of private investors based in the United States. We are researchers and writers by habit, not brokers, advisers or fund managers, and we never handle other people’s money. What we operate is a reading desk, not a trading desk.

Why the name

Every grand claim about artificial intelligence eventually shows up somewhere as a line item on a power bill. A ledger is the book where line items have to tell the truth. We named the project after the moment those two ideas meet: the megawatt, and the record of what it cost.

What we publish

Our main publication is the 2026 Field Handbook, free of charge. It walks through the physical work behind the AI trade in plain language: the queues regional grids run before a campus can plug in, the heat every chip has to shed, the multi-year calendars that fabs and equipment makers work from, and a set of job-site rules for sizing, exits and diversification.

What we never do

We don’t recommend specific stocks, funds or any other financial product. We don’t forecast short-term market moves, and we don’t offer guidance tailored to your personal situation. There is no subscription, no premium tier and no second product behind the free one. If you ask for the handbook, you receive the handbook.

How we think about it

Bubbles are loud; the plumbing is quiet. Our job is to write about the plumbing, in the plainest English we can manage, for readers who have seen enough cycles to be suspicious of volume.
